About J. Patryce Design & Company

JOAN ENGER : PRINCIPAL

Interior Designer Hoboken NJ
J. Patryce Design is a full-service luxury residential firm in the New York Metro Area, led by principal and owner Joan Enger. Founded in 2005, JPD offers a comprehensive design approach, collaborating on all types of residential projects with a passion for historic homes. The firm is known for their strong focus on custom millwork and architectural design elements that work in harmony with perfectly executed furnishings, art and accessories.

Joan first began cultivating her skills during a successful run in luxury branding for Estee Lauder, Godiva and Ralph Lauren Home. As the story goes, Joan would leave her corporate career and head back to NYSID to begin a new chapter following her passion for residential design. Following design school, Joan joined a small NYC residential firm where she worked closely with the principal for four years until the time came for her to commit to her own practice. Joan has always been interested in the intersection of art, antiques, travel, and fashion, so her transition to interiors felt more as a ‘coming home’ rather than a re-invention.

Joan’s specialty lies in her ability to balance modern elements with classic inspiration and architecture to create interiors that are unexpected yet timeless. She believes that a well-executed interior includes an interesting mix of materials, finishes, texture and scale—old and new. With a heavy dose of custom-designed furnishings, vintage and antique pieces, Joan gravitates towards rich, honed finishes and items with patina. Joan flawlessly layers in pieces from all periods, creating one-of-a-kind environments that never feel “decorated”. She is always mindful of composing spaces that balance function with a desire to live beautifully.

Original art and vintage accessories play an important role and are a key component of the firm’s practice. They have cultivated relationships with galleries and artists spanning the world, and have an enviable collection specifically available for their clients. Despite the specific style that is requested, each space they touch feels custom, layered, and unique to the homeowner.

J. Patryce Design has been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Luxe Interiors + Design, The New York Times and Vogue, to name a few.

AMANDA TROCHIM : Lead SENIOR DESIGNER

Having a natural knack for space planning and hand sketching from a young age, Amanda had a hunch early on that a design path would eventually find her calling. A graduate from Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in Interior Design, Amanda joined the JPD team in February of 2016 after working for a NYC interiors firm. Her innate sense of style, impeccable drafting skills, and dedicated work ethic have proved to be invaluable and have elevated her to partner status within the firm.

Amanda favors the architectural aspect of design and is drawn to the Scandinavian aesthetic. She believes that it is more than just decorating; good design is a fine balance between art and function. She has a passion for all things design and a special appreciation for art and pottery. Outside of the office, Amanda enjoys museum hopping, hiking, brunching with her husband and friends, and dreaming of her next trip to Paris.

Maureen Baker : Freelance Senior Designer

Maureen first joined JPD in the early days, proving to be a quick learner with an innate sense of style. We remained in touch when she left to pursue a larger firm experience in NYC, where she spent the following years with top firms such as Thom Filicia, Mancini Duffy and The Switzer Group. A Jersey girl at heart, she and her husband put down roots in Jersey City after the pandemic and when a senior designer position opened at JPD, it was a natural fit! She is a graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in Interior Design and in her free time enjoys karaoke with friends, testing new popcorn recipes, and curling up with a good book.

Veronika Sakatch : Business/Project MANAGER

Having relocated to the US from Belarus in 1998, Nika had worked for a variety of NYC firms before joining our team. Her fastidious knack with numbers, highly organized manner and top notch management skills are essential to our team. Nika joined JPD in 2014 originally as our account manager but has evolved into an essential member of our team as lead project manager. She is a mother of two wonderful boys, an avid traveler and enviable fashionista.

Olivia Silvestri : Intermediate DESIGNER

It was clear upon meeting Olivia that she would be our next new member. Her calm, affable demeanor layered with her appreciation for high end residential design make her the perfect fit! Olivia graduated from NYSID in 2020 with an interior design degree, relocated to Jersey City in 2021 and joined our team shortly after. When Olivia is not in the office, she enjoys spending quality time at the beach, local wineries and binge watching the Crown.
